Flatland Cruisers

I thought that I was going to be able to do a daily blog at the end of each day of our CA Road Trip....but oh no, have you ever tried to a get internet connection in the mountains or a very remote town? Well, I have and it isn't easy! LOL Anyway, for those of you that don't know I have a Facebook site where you can check on our travels and photos we have taken. I have to admit that it is much easier to post pics on Facebook and so is the daily "Wall" writing. Right now Pat and I have checked into our hotel room at Oakhurst, CA. We have had an awesome ride/adventure and have really enjoyed the company of Dan &  Faye and Joe & Cindy...thanks guys! Dan and Joe have really found some awesome mountain roads to ride and we did ride about 158 miles of Route 66 in Arizona.

I have to admit that I have actually enjoyed most all the mountain roads we have ridden. And most all of you know that I have tagged myself as a "Flatlander" after riding the Tail of the Dragon with Sean and Cathy. My new Street Glide handles the mountain curves GREAT! I don't know why but I was a nerves wreck when we rode the Dragon that time. I am hoping when our chapter rides the Dragon for our chapter's annual road trip that I will handle it as well as I have been on the roads that we have rode so far.

Well, it is time for me to call it a day and get ready for a good night's sleep. We are going to ride to Yosemite tomorrow. Oh we did ride to the Sequoia National Park...what a site! Check out the photos on our Facebook site. Good night to all!

Well it is 1 month 1 week 3 days until I have the pleasure of making a road trip with some of my friends to CA and back! Until we leave in May, there won't be much posting here. But once we are on the road, I hope to end the day with a post telling of our day's ride and also post a photo or two. So check back around May 20th to join us on our adventure!

Well, I didn't get to ride my new bike home the day we picked it up due to the rain. But...I sure got to ride it the next day on our SCRC Chapter's scheduled ride! I also got to make a grand entrance...surprised they didn't leave me as I got there just minutes before KSU time. That wasn't on purpose. I lost track of time while riding it before meeting up and couldn't figure out where the clock was! LOL Anyway, I had a great time riding with my chapter members and was able to take the time to get acquainted with the bike. It certainly is a different ride than the Deluxe. Heavier. A little top heavy. But oh the ride...smooth! This will be the bike for cruisin' to CA and back. I'm not saying the Deluxe isn't a nice bike but it just isn't as comfortable on long trips. Anyway, just had to let everyone know that I actually did get one day of riding in before this darn rain and cold came back. Looking forward to a lot more rides!

Today was a special day for me. I got to share getting my new 2010 Street Glide with not only Danny and Heather (our youngest) but with my very dearest friends Pat and Bobby & Susan. What a day it was! Thanks everyone for being a part of my special day! I failed to mention the very person that helped make this possible - Rhonda! On one of our Dixie Angel rides she told me that they had this bike on order. She also works at the dealership and was able to not only be there the day I picked it up but also took some photos of my bike as it was being put together and having some other items added to it. A BIG thanks to you Rhonda!!
